Deakin University – Building B (Burwood Campus)

Roof Restoration | Rust Conversion | Thermal Insulation

Project Overview

The Nillumbik Dog Pound had long suffered from excessive heat buildup, particularly in the brick kennels directly beneath an exposed metal roof. During warmer months, internal conditions became unbearable for the dogs — with underside roof temperatures recorded as high as 85°C. Staff were forced to return up to three times a day to hose down kennels and provide relief.

Thermoshield was engaged to deliver a solution that would:

Staff observed that on many hot days, internal temperatures were cooler than the outside air, which far exceeded expectations.

Client Outcome

“We are delighted with the result. The coating has provided genuine relief from the extreme radiant heat that had previously built up in the pound.”

This project illustrates how Thermoshield ceramic membrane can deliver measurable thermal performance, improve animal welfare, and ease operational burden — all while preserving the integrity and appearance of aging infrastructure.
