Thermoshield Insulation

It’s all about the hollow ceramic microspheres

What makes Thermoshield Insulation so unique and effective is that its construction contains a high volume of hollow microspheres, rather than simply being an external white paint without any thermal properties. Thermoshield Insulation is composed of millions of hollow, ceramic vacuumed microspheres that create ‘dead air’ space which is the fundamental key to insulation.

Thermoshield Insulation contains first class mould inhibitors, which in addition to the ceramic microspheres results in long term out performance. When a coating becomes tarnished or weathered, the once clean white paint is rendered ineffective. Thermoshield Insulation has an equivalent R-rating of 6.3, is fire rated and compliant with section-J of the building code.

Whether Thermoshield Insulation is applied on a new roof, applied as part of our restoration system or being applied to ‘seal’ a building for corrosion prevention, all applications of Thermoshield Insulation will result in preventing major heat transfer in any environment.

The success of Thermoshield Insulation is due to its ability to counter ‘radiant heat’ transfer. Thermoshield hollow ceramic microspheres can:

Thermoshield ensures an investment in a Thermoshield ceramic coating is a long term one. Thermoshield offers a 10 Year Warranty* with any remedial work (if) required and this is completed at the expense of Thermoshield Australia, with your peace of mind an satisfaction our priority

However, in our opionin, there are a number of problems with this approach, including:

Thermoshield Insulation Performance

An Australian University conducted a study into the performance of the Thermoshield Insulation product only following a study on generic paints. The results supported the testimony received from many satisfied customers. You can see from the below two graphs (from study) that the Thermoshield Insulation coated building has a significantly lower surface temperature and significantly higher reflectance than the uncoated.

You can see from the below graphs (from study) that the Thermoshield insulation coating reduced internal temperatures in hotter months, yet increases internal temperatures during winter nights:

The primary purpose for a Thermoshield application is often the need to reduce internal temperature in hotter months. However, an underestimated supplementary benefit is the added insulation that is provided during winter months! The Victorian Department of Sustainability in their own independent tests and achieved major energy efficiency gains in the winter quarter.
